Alpha Rhythm

The pattern of brainwave activity operating during hypnosis. Back to Top

Anchor A unique stimulus, such as a word or image, which triggers a response during hypnosis. Back to Top

Awakening The subject’s return to full awareness after a hypnotic trance. Back to Top

Beta Rhythm The dominant pattern of brainwave activity usually associated with activities during waking hours. Back to Top

Compounding Suggestion A technique used to improve the reliability of suggestion. Involves providing the patient with a suggestion that will be referred to multiple times during hypnosis. Back to Top

Deepening The process of attaining a trance-like awareness. Back to Top

Delta Rhythm The slowest pattern of brainwave activity usually associated with complete unconsciousness, i.e. sleep. Back to Top
